I plan to experiment with a plethora of different clay, glazes, and techniques. A few of the things I interested in are:
Mixing Mason Stain into clay and slip
Marbling stained clay
Doing complex marbling patterns and designs
Mold making and slip casting (which I've started)
Medium and large sized sculptures
Working with Polymer clay
Using various other media with clay (metals, fibers, plastics, etc.)
As far as surface design goes I have a smaller array of techniques to try. I have more ideas for experimenting with the content than the process itself. I do want to try and get into relief carving, but I'm more focused on flat surfaces. When it comes to the content I tend to lean into the surreal and cute kind of subject material. The Japanese word for cute, "kawaii" tends to be a good descriptor for my aesthetic and work.
